Now the hot weather's back I've realised I need some new summer tops. So this morning I've been looking online at a few of the local clothes shop sites and couldn't believe they're wanting 12000-17000 pesos for a plain coloured short sleeve cotton polo shirt!! They're not even well known brands!! I was expecting to pay around 5000!!

Where do you shop for clothes?

The other thing about Argentine-made polo style shirts is that they do not hold up beyond a few launderings, even hand washing and not using a dryer. Perhaps they use inferior cotton?

Funnily enough that's exactly what the missus said even about so called ''quality'' brands like Cardon. She bought a pair of trousers there recently and even after the first wash they had lost some colour. That's why I prefer to buy unknown cheaper brands.

I'm still wearing a white square cut, short sleeve shirt from Marks and Spencer that I bought 20 years ago.
Can't beat M&S for quality!

If you want cheap clothes (quality is crappy anywhere you shop in Argentina, imho), Once is the place. It is a buzzing and chaotic central area in Buenos Aires City. Not sure if you want to come to the City just for a polo shirt.
I live near Av. Córdoba and Av. Scalabrini Ortíz, which is considered another place where to find mayor brands for a discounted price. Also within walking distance, there is an area around Gurruchaga & Av. Córdoba where you can find well known local brand with discounts (like Cardón, Equus, Lacoste, Brooksfield, etc.)
I don't think their prices are a deal, at all. I bought a simple blouse, second selection, from Paula Cahen D'Anvers for about 15 USD. First selection was 30 USD and it was just rayón (synthetic silk). I wouldn't spend that much money for a crappy thing like that in Europe. Maybe we're spoiled with sweatfactory brands selling thousands of models for cheap.
On Equus there is 3x2 on some polo shirts (chomba in the local Spanish) that would bring down the price to less than 7000 ARS/each: https://www.equus.com.ar/chomba?_q=chomba&map=ft
At Gabucci 4-5,000 ARS but very poor selection:https://gabucci.com.ar/categoria-producto/hombre/chombas/
If you don't mind shopping generic brands, you can check Dafiti where they have chombas from 4,000 ARS upwards: https://www.dafiti.com.ar/cata…rice_min&gender=Masculino
Evermount/Wintertex, also from 5,000 ARS : https://wintertex.com.ar/hombre/camisas/
Or on Mercadolibre: https://listado.mercadolibre.c…rderId_PRICE_NoIndex_True

Thanks serafina.
It's just something like this below from one of your links I'm after. Looks promising compared to most of the overpriced branded stuff I've seen.
