I didn't think this country could sink any further, but it has...

  • Just looking at today's situation makes my hair stand on end:

Protesters camping out on 9 de Julio - again and set to stay for nobody knows how long.

Tyre manufacturers closing down due to union action.

Mapuchis attacking security forces and burning down buildings in Bariloche.

Students taking control over schools in protest at conditions.

The blue dollar at $290 again and likely to rise because the government won't devalue, officially anyway.

    Poverty at 37%.

Inflation likely to reach 100% by year end.

A vice-president who is set on a course of steam-rolling judicial changes in order to impede her long awaited fraud conviction.

A move by the government to cancel the primaries (PASO) next year because they know they won't end in their favour.

    Have I missed anything?

  • The price of a small white pan loaf in Vea yesterday cost me $254. Twice the price it costs in the UK.

You might be surprised at how the price of bread has soared in the UK recently. On the one hand Sainsbury's are offering an 800g basic white loaf for 36p - but it contains 11 ingredients, seven of which should never be found in a real loaf of bread. Most of the rest of Sainsbury's white bread sells at around GPB1.25 for an 800g loaf with some of the in-store bakery offerings coming out at twice that amount and bread from local bakers at twice that amount again. (Example: 400g sourdough from a local baker GBP4.50).

That'll do to be going on with..... :th_giggle01:

My loaf is only 335gr. 8| I reckon Sainsbury's could easily beat our average weekly shop here on price.
