Quite a list, Splinter . Can anyone explain why the government allows the first four, without stepping in and saying “ENOUGH?”

You might be surprised at how the price of bread has soared in the UK recently. On the one hand Sainsbury's are offering an 800g basic white loaf for 36p - but it contains 11 ingredients, seven of which should never be found in a real loaf of bread. Most of the rest of Sainsbury's white bread sells at around GPB1.25 for an 800g loaf with some of the in-store bakery offerings coming out at twice that amount and bread from local bakers at twice that amount again. (Example: 400g sourdough from a local baker GBP4.50).

This might just be the explanation for all the other things....

A move by the government to cancel the primaries (PASO) next year because they know they won't end in their favour.

As I think I've said before, I don't understand the point of primaries where the whole electorate are compelled by law to vote. Why not just have the election proper and be done with it? The USA-type primary is different and makes sense to me.

My loaf is only 335gr. I reckon Sainsbury's could easily beat our average weekly shop here on price.
