Just been reported on the BBC news.....ended in disappointment when they said he never even fired a shot.

I smell a rat....wonder how much he was paid so she could gain sympathy?

Throwing a cat at her would have done more harm than this. It honestly seem too ridiculously staged to be credible. You go kill a politician AND you don’t check if your gun works?!

It also makes it look JFK’s assassination a work of art in comparison. This is a kindergartener’s attempt to murder

Talking of cats, Lynton Crosby, the Australian political strategist, explains his approach to distracting the public from the things politicians want them to forget as "throwing a dead cat on the dining table."

"Imagine a dinner party" says Crosby. "Everyone in an animated discussion about everything. Throw a dead cat on the dining table and now everybody is talking about the cat."

Depending on what media you read, most in the 'I don't support Cristina' camp believe that it was a set up, saying, what better way to garner sympathy than an assassination attempt?

Let's not forget that this is literally a couple of days after Maximo, her son, said publicly 'they want a dead Peronist on the street'.

    Timing is everything.

They are trying to hide the nationwide shortage of World Cup stickers ( the famous figuritas)

On a more serious note, I am still trying to work out why Alberto has declared a national holiday and why my lad misses another day at school.

Its all bloody crazy - when Nisman got murdered ( sorry got suicided ) there was no holiday

Obviously not cool if it is real. I will give the benefit of the doubt, but it all looked a bid suspect.

I have no idea why there is a national holiday today. Strange other than this is the sort of thing that will further appeal to the feckless demographic that supports CFK.

Edit to add if true, it was only a matter of time really considering what has been happening recently. Crowds outside the house of the VP and her acting like she is Evita. I really hate the cult of personality world we live in and in no sector is it more problematic than in politics.

It's not only a public holiday, but a predictably massive march to the Plaza de Mayo in support of CFK has been called for midday. This, of course, will only add to her status as the victim and reinforce the culture of personality surrounding her.

    Woeful.

    Bizarre.

How could anyone brandishing a gun get within inches of her head?

Hopeless security, not to mention the throng of adoring fans that have surrounded her flat for the last couple of weeks, which must have made it easy-peasy to get in amongst the crowd.

Assume, for a moment, that this actually was a serious attempt. If it had succeeded, who would have rushed before the cameras to decry her unfortunate suicide?

The failed attack against Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is nothing more than a political action promoted by the Kirchnerists themselves to victimize Cristina and blame the opposition. Otherwise, it is not explained that the assassin who unsuccessfully tried to kill her did not know how to use a weapon, since to fire the pistol the bullet must be in the chamber.

Everyone repudiates the attack, that is exactly what the Kirchnerists were looking for.

She'll be milking it for all it's worth. The bullets might have been blanks anyway.

That's what she wants and she got it.
