That's great news and they will be using 787s because the last time we flew with them they used ancient 777s. I couldn't tell from the article how long the flights will be from BA.

Yip a good sign but we are still only at 50% of pre-pandemic flight and passenger numbers.
Not good for carriers, but great for travelers who find themselves on half-full planes, instead of stuffed in like sardines in a can, as travelers in the US have been for the past few months!

Unfortunately, the problem here is we are only seeing half the number of flights. And they are full and double the price they were pre pandemic
My October trip to Spain / France would normally come in at 1200/1400 dollars pre-pandemic.
If I want to use Iberia or Air France this year, I am looking at 2500 dollars
I can only get below 2000 Dollars if I use Boliviana de Aviacion. Doesnt fill me with confidence - their usual plane to MADRID is a 30-year-old 767.
My husband is flying from London to BA in October. He booked his flight with ITA, which is the "new" company once know as Alitalia. He went by the cheapest option, and the reviews on the new airlines are terrible.
I gave up going to Italy last August because the company I wanted to use (KLM) was charging a staggering 2500 to 3000 USD for a round trip. The cheapest option would have been going to Instanbul with Turkish, spending a night there, and then head back to Europe. 45 hours trip vs. 17 hours. No thanks.

We used to travel all over the world and enjoyed it. Glad we did it as it's now become a chore even thinking about it.

That's news to me! I would never fly with them on principle. But I understand that they sold tickets at lower price (still, he paid $1700) as they just started flying to Buenos Aires on June 1st and had to fill in their aircrafts. I will check with my husband his route back from London. I think he may be doing a stop over somewhere in Brasil at this point. Hang on!
UK Man I now understand better. I enjoy traveling, but the long haul flight is definitely the least appealing part of the trip to me.

the time tables indicate 13hrs20mins going to London and 13hrs 55 coming back
Real flying time is probably about 20 minutes less than those indicated.

Oh. Of course. That’s closer to the situation here, with prices double and every seat filled. The only difference is that here, when booking, a flyer has many choices of planes at similar times, on similar routes. The rub is that upon arrival at the airport, travelers often learn that their flights have been canceled, a situation that causes bedlam and lengthy delays.

Really depends where your final destination is in the UK. We like to spend a day or two in Madrid as it splits the journey up. On the return we love the MAD-EZE day flight. For us it's the best timed flight from Europe especially if you're down the back.
Oh definitely a daylight flight is the best. I've only been lucky once with that from Madrid on Iberia and it was sunny for the whole trip.
Made it much more enjoyable.
