Car Boot Sale

For the last ten years or so we've had a stand/booth at the Don Bosco school car boot sale, interrupted by you know what. We'll be at one on Saturday 10th September, Av Marquez, San Isidro.

It's surprising how much junk you can get rid of and make some ready cash.

Plenty, but we haven't gathered stuff together yet.

On Saturday we had our most successful car boot sale ever and took five times the amount of cash that we did last September.

Very often we say how nice it would be to go home with the car half empty and that's what happened.

It was quite remarkable considering that the economy is now even worse. Furthermore, it had been delayed from last Saturday due to rain and is normally held on the first weekend of the month to coincide with end of month paydays.

We also took payments through MercadoPago which boosted sales considerably, but I can assure you that people were in a real spending frenzy and arrived with wads of cash, including US dollars which surprised us.

Adri sold loads of used clothes, handbags and we sold books and other stuff that was no longer any use to us. Even vinyl records, old toys and light fittings.

Even though a huge parrilla with choripan and burgers was set up, we economised by taking our own sandwiches, coffee and water.

In fact, we shared the stand with one of Adri's friends to split the cost ($10,000 per stand) of hiring it and she also had a spectacular day of sales.

The next one is on 10th June at the same place, Don Bosco School, Marquez, San Isidro.
