I have been craving for some Italian white wine and I remember seeing mentioned somewhere a sort of MercadoLibre for wines in Argentina.
On ML there isn't what I am craving for.

It's almost impossible to find imported wines. Chile maybe and I have seen the odd French wines but at ridiculous prices.
I used to be a big fan of Rioja wines from Spain ( I don't drink red any more) and I brought some back once. People looked upon it as if it were gold.
I did find this:
The Vino Blanco Pinot Noir Delle Venezie D.o.c.-importado Italia works out the same price you get it for in the UK. I haven't a clue if it's any good though.
Argentina probably has high import taxes on wine, to protect the home industry. It makes sense.
White wines traditionally dont travel well. So be careful. Viñasol from Torres in Spain is a really decent white in Spain but very time I have had it in the Americas it has disappointed
Some of the oak-aged chardonnay from USA do a little better but I wouldn't spend any serious cash on imported wines.
I don't know very much about Italian whites so maybe I am mistaken here.
You can get some decent Argie whites at around 500 and some good ones at 900/1000. At 1500 and upwards you are getting some really good stuff.
My favourite Argentine white right now is Trumpeter Chardonnay at around 1000 pesos.
Thank you for the tips.
My husband advised me about the imported stuff I'd be getting here and I am keeping my expectations low and my wallet open.
Argentinian wines are very strong for my taste. I had a couple of whites while I traveled to Italy last time and they are from another planet.
Argentina for reds and the other side of the Andes (Chile) for whites....so I was once told.

GlasgowJohn , what are your favorite Argentine sparkling wines and reds?
Mumm is a good buy at 600-800 pesos
Chandon a little bit drier if you like that - about 1000 -1200 now
Baron B from the Chandon bodega , is probably my favourite sparkler - about 2400 . I think.
Reds to come later
