I certainly wouldn't be paying those prices. I'd rather just go to Europe. The MIL's neighbour who is a doctor has just returned from Spain with her sister. They go on a hand baggage fare only, buy suitcases when there and fill 'em with lots of shopping. They reckon the money saved paid for the holiday!! She asked my missus the other day if she wanted to buy some suitcases.

I think that the feature that distinguishes places like Cariló, Pinamar, Mar Azul, and Mar de las Pampas is the beach-forest mix, which can be quite unusual
Completely agree. The beach-forest mix is scenic and has the added benefit of bringing songbirds to the mix.

Still not convinced. Mind you, the Scottish coastline has everything so it's no wonder I'm hard to please. The weather is dodgy right enough.

Hmmmm...still not convinced. I suspect if we lived in Buenos Aires my thoughts would be very different though.
I'm not sure I understand how your thoughts would be different?
Yes, I know what you mean: the crazy prices are definitely a challenge 😔

I've come several times to Cariló during my childhood, now I live here full time, and I am still amazed by the surroundings; have you visited the hummingbird's garden?

On of our trips back from Mar del Plata we drove past the whole coastal beach towns so much advertised as summer holiday destinations. Cariló is definitely the poshiest, with several nice shops in the middle of it (although parking is a pain in summer and it becomes too crowded). I liked the big mansions in the wood (which is not a natural forest, it was planned), however the prices are for a family of 10 (or several families) so they are well over our budget.
I liked the feeling of Valeria del Mar. Still not too big and developed like the other places and hopefully not so expensive.
A place where I liked it was Sierra de los Padres, about 30 km from Mar del Plata. It is not on the coast but there is Laguna de los Padres nearby, with woods and fields, horses, and some water sports activities. However, coming all the way from Buenos Aires and stopping right before the sea seems sort of pointless. It is a long drive from Capital.
I am not sure how to add a google map, but here it is!

No! Have never ever heard of the hummingbird garden, but it sounds delightful.

Yes, Cariló it's a man-made forest. And yes, several families rent one home: I've seen up to 5 cars parked in front of a house, and it wasn't even a huge mansion! It's a pity accommodation prices are so high here because, although tourists keep coming, they have hardly any money left to dine out or to buy souvenirs; that means shopkeepers can't benefit from tourism, really

After spending a few hours in Buenos Aires yesterday which confirmed my opinion I'm amazed you have to ask?

Fortunately, it is possible to see hummingbirds everywhere, not only there!

Indeed. We have two hummingbird nests outside. Used to be three but one fell during a storm. Glad to say there were no eggs or young ones in it at the time.

The success of any IT project thoroughly and entirely depends on a software development team. How to build it and make it function seamlessly and efficiently? Just hiring top-class specialists is essential yet not enough for the project’s success.
