I found this both extremely sad and very disturbing. Hu Jintao will end up as a non-person and any trace of his existence will be eradicated from the history books.

They have been discussing this tonight on the BBC World Service in the Business Matters strand. One China-watcher said that if you watch that scene again and look at the expressions on people's faces, everybody else knows what is going on except Hu. The markets, they say, (this is the business matters strand, after all) have responded cautiously because this appears to complete the purge of everybody else in the upper echelons of the party who are not slavishly devoted to Xi and ideologically aligned with him. The markets are concerned that - as the commentator remarked - there no longer appear to be any adults in the room.
