As per usual certain things just keep going up while others stay the same. Could be wrong but when we filled the car at YPF last week there seemed to be a large hike in the price of a litre of Infinia. If fuel keeps rising then inflation will also.

Petrol cost me the same this week as ten days ago

I put 50 mil in the tank as I did before.

But I suspect there was a litre or two less than before...

Cristina Kirchner has now criticised the government for November's inflation figure of 2.4%, so Patricia Bullrich replied, telling her to have the decency not to express an opinion on inflation considering that this administration inherited 25% monthly in December 2023.

“Señora Presidiaria, tenga la decencia de no opinar de economía”

Some people simply have no shame.

We are living in a post-shame world. She’s just more blatant than many world leaders, although she is not the one who is the worst.

Today we stopped at a Syrian food place that caters to office workers, as it is literally just a countertop with 2 benches. We had one plate of tabbouleh (couscous with parsley and veggies) and one plate of fried eggplants with tomatoes, one small bottle of still water, one pastry. We spent 32,000 pesos (22.32 USD).

It was superfresh and the owner is a lovely lady that makes you feel at home. However, I can hardly see it as a regular place to have lunch if you work in the area (Montserrat). It was not a full meal, imho, it is really to eat something at lunch while running errands in downtown. We hadn't been there in a while. If I had to buy to go, I'd have bought twice as much and spent double than that for one full meal at home for two.

The lunch menu at Desarmadero is 19.400 pesos (13.53 USD) and includes an entry, a main dish (goulash with spatzle), drink and coffee (and also bread). 10% off if paying cash.
You can really stuff you up with all that food!

At Mostaza, there is always a special menu with a small burger, fries and soda for 8500 pesos (5.93 USD). Not healthy but filling, and the price is a steal compared to other options.

Very interesting comparisons, serafina . It seems that affordable options for a casual lunch out are no longer unlimited. Or even close. That is such a shame in a city like Buenos Aires.

Inflaton in December was confirmed at 2.8% by INDEC the governments statistics office.

So the annual figure was finally confimed at 31.5% , the best figure since 2017.

    Last years figure was 117.8%.

The government is forecasting 10.1% for 2026 , whcih we all know is a bllody joke.

I noticed last week the prices on many products in several supermarkets have risen much more than 2.8%. Some even by as much as 10%.

So they obviously don't collect inflation figures where we shop. ^^

In layman's terms Argentina are number 1 when it comes to dodgy practices. I see it every day. Sort that out and the country will eventually improve in all areas.

His raffle for the beach house for £250,000 just put me off this bloke and frankly, I see this as scaremongering.

By prices, the two can be easily be mistaken.
