Apparently, Massa is going to stop the printing of new money. I'll believe that when I see it.

So far he is talking a good game - strangely I feel he will get more support from the centre right than from his own party.
The big thing is , can he do a deal with the agriculture sector, and at what price?
It's early days but already there are bets on if he will eat his Christmas pudding in his new job.

He'll have to moderate their attitude towards the farmers, of that there is no doubt.

A 5000 peso note would come in handy. My trouser pockets bulge when I pop round to the shop....no wonder the spinster is happy to see me.

90% wouldn't surprise me.
QuoteThink 9% Inflation Is Bad? Try 90%.
With the world grappling with rising prices, a tour through Argentina reveals that years of inflation can give rise to a truly bizarre economy.

What a depressing article.

Remember "Inflation is just a sensation"? and "Insecurity is just a sensation"?
These bastards seem to be obsessed with the word because they are saying that the government now has a sensation of financial stability.
Fucking morons.

Is there a sensation that the voters are going to fall for the same hucksters again?

Spot on...although it's not exactly news to us.

I can cut & paste for anyone who wants to read it. I believe the audio is only for the first few paragraphs. Just let me know if you’d like me to email it.

New washing machine purchased today
120,000 pesos
Free delivery.
6 INTEREST-FREE installments of 20 thousand per month.
Now with inflation running at around 9-10% a month, you can't argue with the installment plan.

With Argentina’s chronic inflation, I’ve always been surprised that so many companies continue to offer installment plans. If they all got together and dropped them, no competitor would have an edge. Great for the consumer that they haven’t figured that out.

But!! You're paying twice the price.

The 'normal' price for a KitKat in Argentina says it all.

if I buy the washing machine in one installment, it costs me the exact same amount as I have agreed for six installments . there is no special for cash or a one-off payment.

Which is why goods bought here are so expensive. I supect it would probably be around half the price in the UK.

UK Man , are you saying you think Argentina’s inflated prices are caused by the installment plans offered?
It has to be one of the 100 reasons.
