A young woman to watch. I like her objectivity and honesty.
Lawrence Freedman, for The Bulwark’s The Triad, 23-9-22:
Andrei Gurulev, a Lieutenant General, member of the Duma, and regular media commentator, who was directly involved in Russia actions in the Donbas in 2014-15. . . has a thing about destroying Britain. On state television in August, when asked if Britain was readying for war with Russia, Gurulev replied that this was already the case. Russia was fighting both Britain and the US in Ukraine.
‘Let's make it super simple. Two ships, 50 launches of Zircon [missiles]—and there is not a single power station left in the UK. Fifty more Zircons—and the entire port infrastructure is gone. One more—and we forget about the British Isles. A Third World country, destroyed and fallen apart because Scotland and Wales would leave. This would be the end of the British Crown. And they are scared of it.’
Sounds like propaganda for the masses.
It’s their most successful export.
I wonder if President Zelenskyy has heard this speech by Churchill. I imagine he has.
Be sure of it!

Leaks in two pipelines running from Russia to Germany under the Baltic Sea caused a sudden drop in pressure on Monday, prompting the authorities in Germany, Denmark and Sweden to investigate. Sweden’s national seismic network said it detected two large undersea explosions on Monday near the leaks. |

Wouldn't surprise me if it was the Ruskies.
Oh what a surprise....
Close to 100%, surely.
Wouldn't surprise me if it was the Ruskies.
Looks like it. He's definitely lost the plot now.
Russia has just gotten an agreement from OPEC that they will cut oil production by 2 million barrels per day. This, of course, will send oil prices higher, maximizing Russia’s petroleum income and providing more money for its war.
(China’s normal enormous appetite for oil has been tamped down by its continued Covid lockdown. When that ends and people resume their oil consumption, prices will go even higher)
Get back behind your wall, Roger.
What is he THINKING? Is this a pathetic bid for relevance?
Rog likes to chat - a lengthy interview in the London Telegraph today.
Let me post it a little later.
I for one was hoping that a coup in Russia could put a stop to this madness and so, over the last few months the Wagner group of mercenaries, backed and paid for by Putin himself, has become disgruntled due to lack of ammunition and clowns as generals.
Well, they finally turned on Putin and are occupying Russian military bases within Russia itself.
Is there any turning back for Wagner and its leader? He was once a hotdog salesman by the way.
QuoteYevgeny Prigozhin calls it his "March of Justice". Vladimir Putin says it is a "criminal escapade" and an "armed mutiny". One senior Russian commander has called it "a coup".
Whatever you call it, the Wagner chief has gone for broke to try to topple Russia's military leadership.
This had been brewing. For months there has been very public infighting between Wagner and Russia's ministry of defence over how the war in Ukraine has been fought.
Not sure I fully understand what's going on there. It's certainly an interesting diversion though. Hopefully the little shit's days as President are now numbered.
Wagner may have been a hot dog salesman but his current empire is quite large. Apart from the catering contract at the Kremlin, he has military operations in 6 or 7 African countries.
There are rumours that he has half the military on his side already....
Should be an interesting few days.
