Aka, Argyll vs Argyll in the 50s and early 60s, their divorce was beyond acrimonious, the details of which are played out in their stormy marriage. It's extremely well made and acted with Clare Foy and Paul Bettany at each other's throats most of the time.

Steamy sex there isn't, but it's implicated, not to mention the adultery which in the 50s was a pretty heinous offence.

If you want to watch the ghastly and seriously disturbing face of far right America populated by Trump clones, watch this.

Make America white again is a theme that runs through this documentary like a poisoned vein and really illustrates the ugly underbelly of the far right in the USA.

Certainly not enjoyable viewing, but much, much more than you'll ever get from mainstream media. Worts and all.

I’d really like to see this, but we don’t get BBC here. God knows we’d rather have that than many of the insane offerings on our DIRECTV lineup.

Our Public (Educational) TV stations individually decide which programs to buy, often from the BBC. So perhaps in the future we in the US can see this mirror held up to our own right wing hatred.

“Make America White Again” is a rich concept, given that the European “founders” took the country away from indigenous people and built the country on the backs of African American dragged here in chains.

If you use a VPN on your laptop and sign up with BBC iPlayer you can watch it!

This true and tragic story is quite remarkable, superbly acted and incredibly sinister. In a small town, Maids Moreton, Buckinghamshire where this is the last thing one would expect to happen.

Watching this BBC series on AppleTV+ and thinking about you Brits, wondering how you’d feel about the silly send-up of a losing British soccer team and its clueless American coach -

I've watched one series of it, thought it to be ok-ish

I can see the comedy value of an American football coach getting sent to manage a "soccer" team in England, oh they start the winning fairy tale etc....

I really tried with Ted Lasso but didn't even titter. Shame really.

It’s a silly comedy and not really my style of humor, but the initially unlikable characters who turned out to be very decent people reminded me of a real life lesson.

I’ll have to admit that I enjoyed watching some smug Brits gloating about their superiority over the hayseed, platitude-spouting yank.

Had to get around 4am this morning to comfort Grey the greyhound as the noises from the thunderstorms were upsetting him. After making myself a cup of char I switched on the telly for the BBC news. Then watched a short documentary film about the shepherdesses of Wakhi in the Karakoram of Pakistan. Superb little film with magnificent scenery and some remarkable ladies, the oldest of which is 88 years old.

This fascinating story on BBC prompted me to sign up to BBC Sounds, which I’d never heard of. I love Lucy Worsley, despite her accent (which to my US ear sounds like either baby-talk or a speech defect).

Here are some that we've watched on the BBC recently and I highly recommend them:

    The Phantom of the Open

    Man Up!

Quartet, directed by Dustin Hoffman no less.

    The Plot to Kill Thatcher

Oh how I wish we could see Quartet and other excellent BBC shows! We get only BBC World News, but it more or less follows the CNN Int’l model: repetitious news programs, day and night.
