For any Argentine wanting to watch even a couple of games in Doha, it's going to be incredibly expensive. Not only the 21-hour flight but also accommodation, meals and everything else. It could easily exceed AR$1million and that's just in today's money because we're talking November 2022, so who knows where we'll be in twelve months' time?

Being an Islamic country, football fans will also have to observe local laws such as how to dress, body language, limited venues for booze and the repercussions for breaking any of the laws are very harsh.

I'll most likely watch it on TV. :gandalf:

Although I'm sure they'll organise it very well I wouldn't go even if it was cheap. Not an area of the world that attracts me to be honest.

Given that Scotland are looking likely to qualify , I am thinking about it...... :grave-digger:

I don't even want to go there, even if I could afford to. There isn't much to do there in the first place

We now have the Dollar Qatar which followed the Coldplay dollar and the tech dollar. There are now about 15 types of dollar in Argieland now, not to mention when using an Argentine card abroad will attract a whopping 75% surcharge on each transaction.

Coldplay and Qatar dollars: Argentina devalues its currency by sectors
The South American country now has more than a dozen different exchange rates to restrict access to foreign currency

Fur is flying over the Argentina team's choice of Mate to take to Qatar.

Apparently they've chosen a Uruguayan brand which many consider an insult to local industry here in la la land.

Argentina 5 - UAE 0 in a friendly match today. They really didn't need to play the second half because four of the goals were score in those 45 minutes.

    Qatar 0 - Ecuador 2

England 6 - Iran 2 with a debatable penalty for Iran.

    Wales - USA....?

Most games are on TV Publica but not all and TYC isn't free after all because you need to sign up with Flow, DirectTV or Telecentro.

BBC over VPN is awful and keeps refreshing/buffering so in the end I added Claro TV to our existing Claro plan for $500 which is very cheap, so we can switch between TYC and TV Publica.

You think you have problems watching from afar? What about the people who actually made it to Qatar, only to find no beer is allowed to be sold in the stadium?!

I've been sampling the 'Andes' range of beers over the last few weeks. Apart from their IPA the rest get ten points. In comparison, Budweiser is no better than ordinary Quilmes.

Well done the Iran team for not singing their national anthem. I take it none of them earn their living playing in Iran?

Awfy quiet outside here....no singing or car horns. The street dogs are happy though.

Saudi Arabia’s firs big win in their drive to gain respectability through sports.

But what about Wales vs USA?

Wales drew 1-1 with USA which was a satisfactory result for us. England next, but that will be an uphill battle for the Welsh.
