They do seem to have a lot of holidays here compared to what I got in the UK. Gizza job!!

Besides the sheer number, something that always surprises me when holidays pop up in Argentina is that so many places close. In the US, only banks and govt facilities close for all but the “big” holidays of Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, and New Years Day. Independence Day is certainly an important holiday for us, but stores and restaurants stay open even for that.

Stores and restaurants will stay open here as well , except for Xmas Day , NY Day and Shop Workers Day - Not sure about the status of May 1st for store workers.

Just a few years ago, on The Day That Was Formerly Known As Prince, Er, sorry, that was Columbus Day, now the Day of Respect for Cultural Diversity, we tried 3 restaurants in Palermo before finding a fourth one open.

Since then, we’ve just had dinner at home on that day. I’m glad to know it’s not the norm.

Yes some holidays are totally ignored by all except those who work in offices/banks etc.

We usually do the weekly supermarket shop around 3pm on a Wednesday afternoon as it's quiet. Not today we didn't as it was closed for some holiday. The missus reckons it'll open at 5pm...however I'm betting it won't be.

Seems La Anonima here was only open this morning. Instead of pushing a trolley I can open a beer now.
