You could sell that picture on shutterstock. They looks delicious! I am envious, UK Man . Figs are by far my favorite fruit!

I much prefer them preserved with a big dollop of double cream. They have a slimy texture when fresh which for me feels strange in the mouth.

This was a welcome sight after 12 hours in the saddle from Salta to Jesus Maria, Cordoba.

The chips look good. Can't say I've ever had a decent chip in a restuarant here. They always seem to come overcooked/too crispy or covered in oil.

From the best bakers in Chivilcoy. They only use fresh cream which not many others do.

All their cakes and pastries are very good quality. It was nice although I think some more booze in the sponge would have added more zing.

I often add a spoonful of brandy to cakes like that and then maybe another spoonful!

Bought a packet of Granja del Sol breadcrumbed merluza the other day in Carrfour. Despite my pessimism regarding quality I have to say I was impressed with how good it was. So much so I'm having it again tonight as the missus is off to a friend's birthday party.

Did you cook them in the air fryer?

For a couple of reasons no. The fillet was too long to fit in whole and as the missus hates fish she'd have smelt something fishy every time she went to use it for months afterwards. :cursing:

Far easier and less messy to fry it in the frying pan anyway.

Fillets of fish have disappeared from my local Jumbo , so I will pop into Carrefour early next week.

Super weather day so was finally able to make the wife's birthday BBQ when we got back home this evening. She enjoyed it which is the main things as I can no longer be arsed with all the faffing about it takes especially when it's dark. Too much beef for the two of us so the slavering dogs will be getting the leftovers tomorrow.

I really like the reheated meat the next day for an easy meal. Do you not eat any of the leftovers?

UK Man , I wondered the same thing. You are usually so thrifty. And meat is more expensive than KitKats!

    Me thrifty?

I like it sliced thinly with salad especially on a warm day. However with it being vacio there was quite a lot of marbling in it which the missus doesn't like cold. By the time I got to the beefier parts there wasn't much left. So we just had chicken milanese instead and the dogs got the chopped up beef mixed in with their grains.

Reheated meat tastes disgusting, to me anyway.

I don’t like the taste of reheated meat either. But I love thin-sliced, chilled beef (with Worcestershire sauce) or chicken (with mayo and sweet pickles).

Found this cooking site which has given me loads of ideas for many Scottish foods that I miss. Now the colder weather has arrived I'm going to give some a go.

    Scottish Archives
Our true speciality, with lots of classic family recipes - some dating back years! You cannot beat a good old fashioned Scottish bake.
