My wife went through a phase of Almond milk. Apart from the horrendous cost , it tastes vile.

I am a black tea and a black coffee man...

I am too but only when needs must, which isn't very often. If there's milk available I'll use it as long as it's cow.

Wifey's off out to have dinner with her pals so I made dinner for myself. Sirloin steak with potato egg tomato salad. Plus a wee bevvy.

I am skipping dinner tonight, as I am still full after lunch at K-ramelo Colombian restaurant, where I made a stop on my way back from DHL. I had a pastel de yuca as an appetizer, which is sort of an empanada but twice the size and stuffed with meat, rice, boiled egg, mais, and spices.

My main dish was actually classified as a side on their menu, but I felt that two people could eat out of it. I was so stuffed that I had to make an effort to finish it. Patacón de cochinita: braised meat in a spicy sauce (not hot), with fresh cheese, cilantro, fried platano (patacón) with pickled red onion and avocado. The presentation was beautiful, rich in color, with a mix of several ingredients. A breath of fresh air compared to Argentinian dishes. I spent 25k including drink (panela, which is sort of lemonade with cane sugar)

They also have 4 lunch special menus, but I am not sure if they run down cheaper. The place was full on a Monday at midday, and all were Colombians. It is not open at night.

Well presented. You're fortunate to have such a variety of food in BA. Here it's just the usual Argie offerings hence why we rarely have any desire to eat out.

I hear you, Rice . It took me years to start drinking it. First, it was just random sips whenever my husband was having it. He is not a big mate drinker, maybe 4-5 times per month. Now I drink it religiously twice a day, and he still drinks it occasionally. I am also using the "suave" (mild) blend during summer, to keep down stomach issues. My favorite brand is Andresito.

Impressive you have the full Argentine habit serafina preparing and drinking everyday. I like it, and will have everyday as long as someone else prepares. Nice to take on a road trip, or just to the any nearby park. I cannot to tolerate with sugar or sweetener. If mint leaves are added it is ok, but that is only occasionally. We have used this brand from the dietética for quite a while. Suave version as well.

It was key to find a brand that was not overpowering and not too strong on my stomach. I also don't share it and I don't add anything to it.

And I don't drag it for days. Once I am done drinking, I empty the glass, rinse and put to dry.

The larger one I use for breakfast mate is made of pumpkin (the classic calabaza mate), the smaller one for the afternoon is made of Palo Santo (wood). I also have a ceramic one which is even smaller, for when I just have 20' and can take just 2-3 sips.

They used to be hard to get but La Anonima had them yesterday in the lentil section. Vea also used to have them. New Garden has them and probably the health food stores as well.

Like me it's very simple. I just followed this recipe I found on Google and it tastes great. Very quick as well as you don't have to steep red lentils before making it as they soften very quickly. I just grated the carrot as I only made half the quantities.

    Easy Scottish Red Lentil Soup
Easy Scottish Red Lentil Soup is hearty and warming soup.it’s so simple to make, only around 200 kcal per bowl, and just so good to eat.

I had thought I'd seen the last of the figs however the best have been saved until last. Although the fig trees out at the quinta have given fruit for several years they've always remained green and hard. However this year for some reason they have decided to reward us. Not only in the size of their fruit but also in their flavour. Even stranger is why the flocks of parakeets out there have totally ignored them. These were picked yesterday.
