On the island of La Palma, La Cumbre Vieja volcano is erupting, sparking unfounded fears of a mega tsunami spreading to the east coast of the US. Naturally the tabloids speak of Armageddon, as usual.
It's also destroying homes with many people being evacuated.
I saw a YT video or was it a documentary on the telly, saying a big eruption could cause such a likely tsunami, if it were on the scale of Krakatoa

Yeah, a mega tsunami is possible, but many factors need to happen during the eruption, including a massive landslide. I saw a documentary on it too.

Its a strange thing for humans to do, the last time it erupted was in the 1970s, given that its quite recent in terms of volcano eruptions
But in Italy, is quite a common thing to do, so much so people live in the shadows of Mount Vesuvius

Even crazier if you ask me. One has to assume they got the land cheap as chips...burnt chips!!

It does seem crazy, it must be because of the cheap land, as I don't think rich people live near volcanoes. I wouldn't, I don't know how they sleep at night
A new volcanic mouth has now opened, apparently.
Mount Kilauea has started a minor eruption since yesterday. Don't worry, this isn't the end of the world, at least I hope so. There are plenty of volcanoes erupting everyday.
And Kilauea loves to cause fireworks.
