The pilots were born in Argentina but as they were sons of UK citizens, they enjoyed both citizenships. And as they were volunteers, the argentine government had no power to prevent this. As I can recall, more that 50 % of the population was pro allied and also the UK preferred a neutral Argentina, as they could receive our ships ( some of them originally British but transferred "magically" to Argentina), without the risk of being torpedoed.

But of course, after 1944 Germany declared "total war", the neutral ships going to England were torpedoed as well, without paying attention to the protest of Argentina.

Many pro allied argentines boasted the fact that some of ours were fighting the Nazis.
