As we all know, the lockdown last year was total from March 21st and anyone found exercising their constitutional freedom of movement would be arrested and/or fined for a criminal offence. Or, as Alberto Fernandez said at the time - "Offenders will be dealt with severely."
Meanwhile, in April last year, just a few days after the curfew was announced, the president held a birthday party for himself at the official residence in Olivos (the Quinta) and on 14th July, held a birthday party for his wife, Fabiola Yañez with about a dozen guests in contravention of the presidential decree that he himself had ordered and signed.
And it just gets stranger and stranger. One of the guests is using a celebrity lawyer who has just said that he will declare the lockdown as unconstitutional - which in legal terms it was - thereby placing his client as innocent (and all the other guests by proxy) of breaking any laws.
It's also emerged that the president lied about the comings and going of guests at the official residence and there are now moves to have him charged and/or impeached.
This is not going away, but I have a feeling that it all may well slide like water off a duck's back, since they are the ones with all the power. Not forgetting the real power behind the throne, of course.
Even the BBC is reporting the story.
