Google resets the minimum limits for YouTube monetisation and faces backlash

YouTube will, from 20th February change eligibility for monetisation of videos to 4,000 hours of watchtime within the past 12 months and 1,000 subscribers. I've had an active YouTube channel since 2007 and in that time have managed to interest 234 subscribers with 367,000 views, being over 6400 hours of viewing. Unless you have something really interesting to offer on your channel. it's quite a struggle to get subscribers and you need to work at it. For me it's a fun sideline which has earned me $40 over ten years, but that's now being taken away from many thousands of amateur YouTube channel creators who have now started a movement called Sub To Sub, where you sub to someone's channel and they do the same etc. There's also a Facebook group.

Of course, there's a movement for everything today, but because of the so called 'Bad Actors', we minnows of YouTube land are being singled out, so a strongly worded letter to The White Star line would certainly be appropriate at this time.
