This is the week we were supposed to return to Argentina. I’m feeling blue, and envying you the coming of Spring. While my husband welcomes our first day of Fall because it brings American football season, I view it as the gateway to winter, my least favorite season.
Why is it that 20 degrees feels so cold and unkind in Fall, yet so warm and embracing in Spring?

Can you not try again to come here?

With Argentina’s policies on entry and quarantining constantly changing, the low vaccination rate vs the high infection and death rates, added to the general bad idea of spending time in airports right now, the whole trip just adds up to too much stress and risk.
We really miss being there - should be driving in from EZE tomorrow - and hate being on another continent for your wedding, Splinter !

I think you're wise staying where you are. Probably only a matter of time until the virus situation takes a turn for the worse here.

It is terrible here, for a different reason. In Argentina, for several reasons, vaccine was slow to be made available. In the US, where there is so much vaccine that we receive Vaccination Tourists, we have anti-common-sense people who inexplicably will take horse deworming medicine for covid but they won’t be vaccinated, often justifying because they “don’t know what’s in it.”
We are definitely not living in a time or place of High Renaissance. For hilarious proof, read these customer comments. Splinter , did any of these folks ever bring you their computers to repair ?

There are some beauties in there!
Do they come to me? Yes, sometimes and I put my Basil Fawlty hat on. That usually works.

The worst is over I hope. Knowing this was forecast I went up on the roof yesterday to patch where I suspected we had a leak last time it rained heavily....it didn't f'ing work.

I practically live on our roof. It's worse than the Titanic.

Please! No singing of that insipid Titanic theme song!
Much better: Fiddler on the Roof.

Although dull and much colder it's stayed dry since I last posted. Was out checking the rain gauge and it's showing 30mm.

Looks as if the stuff we got headed your way then. Getting brighter here now....there's even a tiny patch of blue sky.

A wee bit wet in Escobar as well.......

We lost power a couple of hours ago, but only in our house, because the trip switch tripped and wouldn't stay up.
Long story short, we disconnected everything and began to try switches and plugs in turn. By pure chance, Adri flipped a light switch that we never use and that was the problem - a light in the garden, low down in the flowerbed that I had disconnected last year.
Job for tomorrow.

Be careful when you disconnect it properly in case the wiring has rotted and that may be causing the fuse to trip.
We found five lights badly connected in the garden of a house we rented a few years ago - could have killed a kid if they had touched them in the rain.

A chilly 4c when I got up this morning but it's a beautiful sunny day.
