The Mercy.
The round the world yacht race that shocked the world.
In the autumn of 1968, Donald Crowhurst set sail from England to participate in the first single-handed nonstop ....
As an intro, this gives an idea of what the race was all about.

I'd really like to watch this. Do we need ginger tablets for mal de mer?

Six documentaries coming soon. I would particularly like to see the one about the Carapintadas.

The original was hilarious. From the trailer, looks like this one is, too.

I have the book The Strange Last Voyage of Donald Crowhurst which I've read at least three times. I also have Voyage for Madmen which tells much more about the Golden Globe challenge of 1968. And I have the DVD Deep Water, which is the documentary about Mr Crowhurst's fateful voyage.
It doesn't really get more tragic than this and the film is called The Mercy because of some lines he wrote in the log towards the end. (spoiler omitted)
I can also add that I rode down to the Rio Salado on my bike and found the exact spot where he made landfall in Argentina and spoke to the son of the prefectura who met him and greeted him with "Ey, meester!"
I'm drawn to his story and I don't really know why.

Believe or not, the real character in this true story was locked up again in Liverpool earlier this year for burglary.

Coming August 29: Oscar Isaac and Ben Kingsley in Operation Finale, a historical drama set in 1960. The film is about Nazi hunters who go to Argentina to chase down and capture Adolf Eichmann.
I'd watch anything set in Argentina and anything with Ben Kingsley. Add to these, the fascinating story and attention to historical detail, and I'm ready to be on the edge of the seat.
Here's the trailer.

Does anybody watch the Great British Bake Off?
Five years ago, our house flooded, and we spent 5 months in a hotel as we cleared everything out of the house. Very stressful. The best nighttime escapes we found at the hotel were episodes of Last Tango in Halifax and The Great British Baking Show, the American PBS name for the Bake Off.
No politics, no backbiting; remarkably soothing!
