A surprisingly nice drop of stout from Dia.
Sorry to correct, it's not stout, it's a black beer, Schwarzbier!!!! Its a nice one, but fairly light, very very light.....and right now Schneider has brought out a Schwarzbier and red too, same price as this.....other great alternative is the andina ones....but they are 60-70 peso and these are around 40!!!!

We are battling spiders and their webs, in a beach house that is inhabited only a few weeks each year. I so completely identify with that sign!!!

Bought a six pack of limited edition Schneider Negra at Vea because it was on offer. No better than the German stout from Dia as far as I'm concerned. The Schneider stuff is more expensive as well.

If it's dark with a creamy head then it's stout to me.

Don't ban Spam....not the kind you can eat anyway. Seem to remember there was a type you could fry which was pretty tasty although God only knows what was in it.

Spam is a HUGE favorite in Japan and Hawaii. God knows why.

We used to eat Spam fritters at home and at school. Loved them!

Here there was a similar product called Viandada. Now it is not available.
Not that bad, I used to like it. I never asked what kind of meat was there...
We argentineans were the most important providers of this kind of corned beef during WWI and WWII. It was used to feed the soldiers in the front. Even the tinplate nox was conical, and a small key opened it without the use of any other instruments. It was easy to open.
Also Uruguay was an important provider. There was a brand "Fray Bentos" which appears in all the photos of the trenches of WWI. Fray Bentos is a town near Colonia del Sacramento, and was an important center of industrial beef production. Now is all abandoned and is being researched by industrial archeologists.

You can still get corned beef in some shops. I'll post a photo when I find some.

Corned beef is widely sold in the US, and enjoys a more respectable reputation than Spam, which is the butt of jokes among those old enough to remember what it is. That group would include internet pioneers, who appropriately came up with the designation "spam" to refer to unwanted, junk email.
Spam is considered a weed in the garden of food. As is Velveeta, Kraft's "cheese product" that resembles cheese not at all.

Yes indeed. Not sure if I've had it here or not. In the UK I used to love it sliced with cabbage and mash. Some Colemans mustard on the side.

That sounds pretty tasty. Especially on a cold day.
