Can someone explain to me why a lapsed Catholic who has been divorced twice can get married in a Roman Catholic Cathedral with the service being performed by the leading Archbishop of the country?
Has there been a change in the church rules that I haven't read about?
If the two previous marriages been secretly annulled, does that make his children, bastards?

So I guess in the eyes of the Church, if Boris’s previous unions were outside the Church, then technically he was never married.
So basically this most Cristian of churches is saying that his children from his previous legal unions are bastards......

The Church wouldn’t blame the children. There was clearly a LEGAL union, just not a SACRAMENTAL one.
When people divorce, it wouldn’t occur to us to conclude that the children became bastards. Same with the overlay of a Church wedding.
