It's a nasty and very complicated situation in Gaza, the West Bank and Israel and I can't begin to fathom it.

If you criticize the Israelis , you are anti Semitic.

If you call Hammas terrorists , some will turn round and say they are freedom fighters.

Hard one to call ...just who do you believe?

A terrible situation to be in

The Arabs were evicted from their homes. Had a temple fired on. They launched rockets into Israel. Israel counter attacks. America claims that Israel has the right to defend themselves, after evicting Arabs. And I thought Biden was with all his nice speech at the HoR, was going to at least do something. Doesn't look like it to me. At least the Obama admin did do something

“Do something?” Do what, SpaceNut ?

The US administration has been in talks with allies about what the world community can do, besides diplomacy (they have also been deep in talks with both sides, to try to end this madness before it spreads.).

I am horrified by this military action. But I can’t imagine encouraging the USA to wade in militarily..

Rice I was hoping that the US didn't go in there with the military, that would only cause more problems than it solves

Anyway, it seems I spoke too soon, I think most people are guilty of such a thing

Biden has sent in Hady Amr, an envoy that is liked by both Israel and the Palestinians. Who was born in the region

So, hopefully that bears fruit in diplomacy than having to use the military

Must admit it's been going on so long I've become bored with it all....especially when religion is involved.

Religion isn't involved in this one, its merely the excuse of land grabbing

Is the US giving military aid in addition to the 100% defensive “Iron Dome,” SpaceNut and UK Man ? I’ve been looking, but haven’t found any reports of military aid.

I think it’s a proposed, not approved, sale of military weapons. Democrats - led by Bernie Sanders - are fighting it.

    Also in today’s NYT:

“Biden's unusually blunt demand Wednesday that Israel de-escalate its military attack on Gaza is creating a rare rift between the two countries and dismaying some of Israel's supporters in the United States,” Anne Gearan and Sean Sullivan report. “Biden has no direct authority to impose a cease-fire on Israel, but the stern White House message was unmistakable: If Netanyahu carries the conflict much further, he risks losing significant backing in Washington.”

News just breaking: Israeli security cabinet has just voted for a ceasefire.

All the Israeli hostages as well as Palestinians are being released as part of the ceasefire agreement that Trump and Netanyahu reached. This is great news, but I'm still puzzled as to how this was achieved.

You’re right, sts . All in pursuit not of peace, but of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
