Shame we don't have that many, but I guess the UK being in lockdown is a kind of holiday, one that isn't welcomed I guess

We’ve wondered about holidays during covid. Rather like weekends for us - - same as weekdays. Today is Blursday, so tomorrow starts a weekend, though there’s certainly no going out to a restaurant or inviting friends over.

I'd be interested to see how much carnival there will be this year (15/16 Feb)

I think it was cancelled
Certainly cancelled in Brazil
Holy Week processions already cancelled in Spain.
And the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona for San Fermin has also been postponed.
Anyone for Christmas?

Mardi Gras in New Orleans was canceled months ago. No parades, no dress up balls, no parties, no banquets. Still, we have king cakes and champagne, consumed outdoors and socially distanced, of course.
Unlike Carnival/Carnaval/Carnavale in Europe or Brazil, New Orleans’ Carnival season begins on Twelfth Night, January 6, and rolls like an all-encompassing tidal wave right up until midnight of Mardi Gras Day. Having that canceled wipes out months of not just social life but tourism and tax revenue the city depends upon.
For the moment, on this, the day of our Mardi Gras Krewe’s annual parade, we are wistfully hoping that next year will be different.
