Today, following a heart attack at the age of 60.
Probably the most brilliant football player of all time.

Must admit the second goal against England was just simply brilliant
I just read about his death. Shocking for an athlete, in particular, to have a fatal heart attack.
I wonder: will he be remembered more for his brilliant playing or for the “Hand of God?”

Here in Argentina, all his sins were forgiven long ago and the Hand of God was in a match against England, so the victor writes the history.
As you know, he held God-like status, commonly referred to as El 10, El Diego, he was without doubt, not only one of the best footballers ever, but the celebrated Argentine.
I took this picture in 9 de Julio last week.
Did anyone know that George Best also died on this day in 2005?

OMG, yes of course
Amazing scenes all morning at the Casa Rosada.
Most are wearing face masks but not any real social distancing .
Although I do hear from friends who are in the centre that the bars and the choripan sellers are doing great business.
Good to know the choripan sellers are maintaining their reputation as the only ones who reliably profit from all demonstrations, both positive and negative. See? Some things are comfortingly consistent even in 2020!
I see the Pope has sent a blessed rosary to the family...
Now who did he send it to ?
Which of his wives and/or partners?
Which of the daughterS and sons?
Should be great entertainment when the his last will and testament are read. Should keep the lawyers and courts busy for a while.
This drone video from TN gives you an idea of the amount of people going to pay their respects.
Any drone coverage of the riot police with water cannons and tear gas?
I really cant understand why this wasn't held at the AFA training ground at Ezeiza.

I would have thought the national stadium than the training ground, oh wait that's River Plate's stadium....not a good idea
The training ground has loads of space - Social distancing would have been possible....
Yesterday ended up in the usual Argentine chaos, illustrating that maybe the president's decision allowing Maradona's body to lie in state at the Casa Rosada, to be flawed.
Equally, due to his iconic stature, it was the correct decision but badly organised with the police apparently being very heavy-handed by using rubber bullets and water cannon on those trying to scale the fences.
But now the blame game has started with the president accusing CABA mayor, Larreta for poor organisation and a prosecutor in Benavidez handling a case of negligence against a nurse who was responsible for Maradona in his final hours.
It seems his funeral was as chaotic as his life.
The selfies of the guys from the funeral company and the coffin that are circulating are in extreme bad taste
What is in even worst taste is a video indicating that one of the undertakers has been murdered on instructions of Maradona's family.
It is getting crazier by the moment......
I wouldn't put that past a certain vice-president.
GlasgowJohn , is that an urban myth, or true?
Here's the referee on the day on the reason why he allowed the goal that wasn't suppose to be allowed
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/africa/55100669
Quote"If Fifa had put a referee from Europe in charge of such an important game, the first goal of Maradona would have been disallowed," he insisted.
Basically saying he was biased. If he is correct about the European ref, they would have been right, but not necessarily biased. His claims of European refs being biased was down to a match in 66, in which the Argentines claims of referee biasness towards European teams
Best headed goal in the history of the tournament.......
In any case, Shilton should be ashamed of himself , being out jumped by a guy one foot smaller than him....
