Our Christmas Eve soiree went as planned.....at least the food bit did. The rest was boring as hell.

But I’m sure the others were entertained by YOU, UK Man ! (How were the stuffed tomatoes?)
My wife's friend did remark how slim I was and the old ones just grinned at me.
In the end my wife never made the tomatoes as she thought it would be too much for a starter...she was right. We didn't start eating unil 10pm which didn't help....I'm normally in my bed at that time never mind the oldies!!

The in-law's 15 year old niece was playing in the pool with about six or seven friends the other day. Some of them have now tested positive and she herself will be tested today or tomorrow.
The plan for Thursday was to have the in-laws (four in the family) and mother-in-law over for a bbq, but now we don't feel comfortable about this at all.
But my question is: how does a parent allow their child to mix in a pool with so many other children at this time of risk?
We all know it's natural, but...

At our xmas dinner and lunch, one person over 70 had the virus and is still suffering the consequences. This person already had health issues, but was warning people that it wasn't a walk in the park like they said. Everybody in the family tried to dismiss her account because 'she already had health issues' and 'she is like a broken record'. I tried to support her POV because I have heard the same complaints from people younger than me who had it (prolonged fatigue even after months), but the family simply ignored me.
I found it so childish!

Denialism is certainly alive and well.

The niece tested negative but she has a temperature and other symptoms so the family have called it off for tomorrow which is the right decision. The doc thinks it may have been a false negative.
Also, we think the lad may be going somewhere else, so it's going to be just the two of us which will be nice.
Nothing will stop me making a fire though!

What kind of test was she given? And had the doctor any influence over the testing method? I.e. could he order directly a PCR test or the standard procedure is order a swab test and if it is positive, order a PCR one in a few days?

Sorry, no idea, but I'll ask.

🥂🍾. Stan is definitely the first on the forum to see in the New Year. At 3 hours behind Argentina, I think I’ll be the last. But 2021 can’t arrive soon enough!
