That's very sad news indeed. He was one of a kind and will always be James Bond.
Oh my, oh my! A great man, and also a great actor.
Has passed away, at the age of 90
Famously known for his role in James Bond's Dr. No

He did have many other roles, and won an Oscar for his role in the Untouchable
Oops I didn't see this page until now
I never knew this...
In 1946, at the age of 16, Connery joined the Royal Navy, during which time he acquired two tattoos, of which his official website says "unlike many tattoos, his were not frivolous—his tattoos reflect two of his lifelong commitments: his family and Scotland. One tattoo is a tribute to his parents and reads 'Mum and Dad,' and the other is self-explanatory, 'Scotland Forever.'" He trained in Portsmouth at the naval gunnery school and in an anti-aircraft crew. He was later assigned as an Able Seaman on HMS FORMIDABLE. Connery was later discharged from the navy age 19 on medical grounds because of a duodenal ulcer, a condition that affected most of the males in previous generations of his family
The quintessential Bond and what a handsome man he was.
Still enjoy his James Bond 007 movies and most of the other films he has made, great actor.
He was, indeed, a handsome, distinguished man. He will, of course, live on in film, but it saddens me to know he is gone.
The story of his tattoos is quite touching.
Would it be indelicate to wonder where they were?
A legend and I take comfort that he died at 90 having mostly lived the life he wanted. He never really played the Hollywood game and even got out to spend his last 20 years retired and playing golf. Much respect.
...and he died peacefully in his sleep. He lived like a king!
Talking of kings, one of my favourite Sean Connery films is The Man Who Would Be King, in which he starred with Michael Caine and based on a story by Rudyard Kipling.
If you ever get a chance, it's a must see.
A very keen and good golfer.
Here’s one thing that stands out in his NYT obit:
“ We remember Sean Connery, the irascible Scot who gracefully transformed himself from Agent 007 into one of the grand old men of the movies.”
He was all that and so much more.
