    Following on the chat about the stoppage of the new RN5 dual carriageway between Mercedes and Suipacha in this thread, we took a day trip yesterday and got nearly as far as Chivilcoy. It's such a shame that this work has stopped when this narrow road so desperately needs it. If you get stuck behind a truck, overtaking is a gamble. It appears to be due to lack of state funds.

    Shortarse Kicillof to blame they say. When I first travelled Ruta5 the four lane highway stopped at Lujan. It took them around 20 years to complete the section to Mercedes. So going by that timeline I'll be dead and buried by the time it gets built to Chivilcoy. :D

    Seemingly lorry traffic has doubled since then and is set to quadruple due to mined sand being sent by road.
