In order to assist with the costs of maintaining the forum, Google ads will begin running on the site in the next couple of weeks.
We hope they don't impinge on members' enjoyment of the forum and we'll try to keep them as unobtrusive as possible.

I don't use a blocker. I've got so used to seeing fixed Ads on sites I didn't even notice them here earlier this morning. In fact when browsing the BBC site it took me a while to realise it had Ads on it too, weeks/months after they started having them.
The thing that pisses me off the most are those sites which suddenly block you from reading further by using pop-ups.

I’m seeing 5 ads in this thread with 10 posts, including one that requires my clicking on a tiny “x” in order to have my full screen back. Maybe members in different areas have fewer ads?

Splinter , should we be clicking now and again ? Does the site get more cash if we click on the ads?
It's a tricky one because there are so many variables. CTR (clickthrough rate) seems to be an important factor and It certainly wouldn't hurt to click on the odd one.

I see one at the top all of the time and a much smaller one further down only some of the time.
