M&S, famous for quality clothing and food is selling a globe with all the Falkland Island names shown in the Argentine form and this has caused furore, mainly from veterans of the war.

Pretty shitty quality assurance if you ask me.

    NO WAY !!!

The article doesn’t say where the globes are made, or that they will be replaced; just that the “decorative item” will be reviewed. Really???

Globes may be decorative, but they are primarily a teaching tool, and they typically last, and are consulted as factual, for generations.

Bad move and worse response, M&S.

Where was the globe manufactuered? Which manufacturing countries would name the islands as Malvinas... is the UK the only country that uses Falklands? This will make the main news here as some kind of moral win.

The more I think about this, the more bizarre this seems.

Could it be that Argentina has a covert globe manufacturing operation?

That was my thought too, GlasgowJohn . Currying favor for future purchases in Argentina?

From the Daily Mail....''Roger Edwards, who served with the SAS in the Falklands War and is a member of the islands' legislative council, said that misunderstandings like these 'occasionally crop up'.

He says this is the result of 'decades of Argentine misinformation'. ''

Sounds about right. I'm always pulling up the wife for calling them the Malvinas.

I think it’s perfectly fine for Argentines to say “Malvinas.” But it’s outrageous for M&S to sell globes with anything but the British name for the islands their soldiers fought to keep.

M&S probably got the ones that were supposed to be sold here at 10 times the price M&S sell them for.
