    I’m just surprised someone could be run over, and not have broken bones and fatal internal injuries. Perhaps I’m picturing a heavy duty truck, whereas he could have been driving something much flimsier.

    A businessman, Fernando "Lechuga" Pérez Algaba, was murdered and dismembered in Ingeniero Budge: his remains were found in a suitcase by children who were playing nearby.

    This is a horrific story of a man who owed money to the wrong people in dealings of luxury cars. The police are investigating his huge debts and threats from a football gang (barrabravas) connected with Boca club.

    Like tv news commentators referring to all manner of thugs as “gentlemen.” As in “the gentleman who was serving time as a convicted serial killer has been released from prison.”

    I'm getting the jitters now both with the alarming post from serafina yesterday about crime and also the forthcoming election.

    I don't know much so please correct me...but it seems that perhaps Bullrich is the "safe pair of hands" being conservative but I get the sense that the people are looking beyond a safe pair of hands and are happy to vote for turning the country upside down to get something brand new with Milei.

    I'm not seeing much comfort whatever the outcome but I'm still trying to learn and understand.

    Milei will try and convince the electorate he is the man who can make the changes .

    The others will try and convince them that he will be unable to make the changes as he will not be able to push the changes through the House of Deputies.

    Massa will say he has brought "stability" over the past few months

    The others will say he is a bullshitter.

    Bullrich will argue that with her recently announced economic team she can push the changes through the country needs

    Who will convince the electorate?

    @Bombonera , remember that things always seem bigger than life sized when you’re reading about them from a distance. The crime reports are certainly terrible, but in a city of 15.5 million people, there will be violent crimes. Is your own city crime-free? Mine is among the worst in the US, so while we take precautions and try not to do dumb things, we live a normal life and love being able to live in such a vibrant place.

    We feel the same about BsAs. We abhor the increase in violent crime, but weighed against the many positive aspects of being there, we choose to be there as much as possible.

    Look what 8 years of CFK did, then four years of Macri and now this bunch. It's like living in Shangri La and I feel that the country has been in the shitter for 75% of that time, if not longer.

    Not to mention the personal freedoms that most other countries enjoy, like buying stuff abroad and changing currency without being rammed up the arse. Argentina is also one of the most highly taxed countries in the world and Adri's clients get inspected time after time, after time.

    This is NOT normal.

    It was not my intention to scare you, @Bombonera . But I would be lying if I said that I kept cool after I read the third and most violent crime in the news. Yesterday I was in shock, and I felt helpless and hopeless. For once, I felt like those people who live in less nice districts than the ones where I move around (Palermo, Recoleta, Belgrano, Villa Crespo, Colegiales, Nuñez) who complain that they cannot go out/go back after a certain time of the day because of safety.

    An classmate who lives far away (San Martín) can't take classes that would end at 10-11PM, because she says that taxes don't run past 10 PM in San Martín due to safety (she rides a train from Capital to San Martín, and then she takes a taxi from the railway station to her home because it is unsafe to walk/wait for a bus on the streets). This classmate is also experiencing plumbing issues in the apartment and is having a hard time finding a trusting plumber. I don't know if she fears the plumber or if the plumbers fear the area. Either way, it makes me shiver.

    I was in school at night, and during a break I went outside for a smoke. The two homeless that live under the niche of an empty lawyer office (that closed during the pandemic) had company, and they seemed to be livelier than ever. As soon as I saw them, I stepped back because... well, because you'll never know if they are entertaining themselves, about to fight over something or looking to entertain themselves with someone randomly passing by.

    The school doorman, who is very kind and with whom I use to chat with when I enter and exit the building, saw my reaction and told me "I'll stay there with you". So I had a bodyguard to have a fag at 7.30 PM.

    It was even sadder and we tried to chit chat like if we weren't worried by the group of homeless next door. Another homeless has been living on the opposite sidewalk, in a camping tent, since I enrolled two years ago.

    Obviously, being homeless doesn't make you a criminal, but having too much time on your hands and having nothing to lose could lead someone to find "stuff" to do just to keep themselves busy. I have seen many times homeless people fighting with each other... maybe because they are drunk or high, or maybe because that's the only kind of human interaction they can get, or they are fighting for the best spot or some items. But the bottom line is that I don't want to get involved.

    Perhaps to us the news of the 42 yo engineer who was stabbed at 1045 PM is shocking and disheartening, maybe to someone else is a sign that they can do it, too, and get away with it. Who knows!

    Well, at this point, it is time to take the plunge (Milei) or sink (anyone else).

    I don't think anyone will do it even Milei. Now if I was in charge my first job would be to privatise Correo. I've been waiting for a package to be delivered and the track and trace facility doesn't know it exists. :D

    Maybe I can help? Where did the shipment originate?

    The correo argentino page has different search pages depending on the kind of shipment. If you have the tracking code, you have to look in the specific page for your kind of shipment. There are drop-down menus so you can’t get it wrong.

    And there are drop-downs also in the search result. It is not very intuitive.

    You can also try to call over the phone their customer service and inquire.
