Ex governor of Mendoza, Alfredo Cornejo, is proposing that Mendoza becomes and independent nation because it feels Argentina is hindering its progress.

I couldn't agree more, so go for it, Mendoza!

Staggering! Have there been any hints of this before? Is this a constitutional possibility? In most countries, such secessions aren’t a possibility.

I would propose the nickname Malbexit.

Yes, please do. I’d like to know if the current governor has any comments, too.

There have been talks about Mendoza going their own way for sometime now, first time i heard bout it was back in the 80s and their claim was the same as today.

Also at one point, it was said that Mendoza actually had better credit record than Argentina in the international market, this is from long ago but i see the sentiment still the same.

I think secession would not be a horrible idea at this point, however, federal forces will not allow it if only Mendoza stands alone.....

The idea of a 100 percent peronist Argentina could be achieved by letting the provinces decide if they still wanna be part of this sorry ass country or actually build something positive ...... you know which side i'm gonna be on .

"Sorry ass country..." is about right.
