Good grief! What a woman she was.

Wouldn't you have loved knowing someone like her?
(If anyone wants to read but you're paywalled, let me know and I'll cut & paste-)

ok, I will celebrate the silver medal then, with some delicious wurst, Sauerkraut und Bier......U can't come in first always!

I heard that most Germans would rather forget VE day, but celebrate the wall (1989) coming down instead.
Can't say I blame them.

the wall coming down is a VERY questionable celebration......most or many of the west Germans believe it was a great thing, if it wasn't for the financial disaster!
The years under communist government destroyed east Germany totally and made it into a typical left wing wishful lalaland.
Still it will take decades to Germanize it, (financially.....mentally, several parts are very "German".....if u know what I mean ☠️)

One thing I have long admired about Germany is the insistence on teaching students the truth about WWII. I don’t know whether that has been the case in Japan, but Germany definitely stepped up to taking responsibility and telling the truth, hoping to help the world avoid a repeat of that dreadful war.
