Have you still got that ridiculous curfew down your way UK Man and @Mckenna ?

Yes we have. Officially, still not allowed out all day Sunday and only between 9am-6pm the rest of the week. It's a joke.

Do the thought police make regular patrols and have your children reported you to the ministry of love?

Here in Palermo (well, the 2 blocks around our house, 'cause that as far as my husband goes) the people have gotten pretty loose on the quarantine.

Yesterday several neighbors had people over for asado (the same as always) and my husband went out both in the morning and in the afternoon and noticed more people than usual. Keep in mind that Saturday afternoon it is usually quiet in our area because small shops are closed.

In the morning, around noon there was a line outside of Día, so he went back in the afternoon.

We are still in New Orleans, and very seriously wondering when we’ll be allowed back into Argentina - or even out of the US. If Argentina has a second wave in the cold weather, flights won’t even be flying in July. Then the US is gearing up for a September second wave.

It is looking more likely by the day that travel may be off the cards for the rest of the year. It's the same problem with everything surrounding this pandemic, though... when is it time to say enough is enough? Talk of waves, but once there is a second wave there will be talk of a third wave. It just cannot happen that the world remains locked down until a vaccine is found and scaled up through production, distribution, and administration.

We are talking maybe a year after a vaccine is found before it will start solving any problems. With most consesus pointing to waiting until 2021 for a vaccine to be developed, then another year on top to scale it... well, are we really going to be in lockdown until 2022?

If not, why not? What will change in the coming months if countries are discussing waves of the virus?

    Semigoodlooking .......

The world, not only Argentina will be in ruins if this continues like this!!!!!

In my opinion it's much worse than a world war!!!!

The implications for Argentina is getting worse by the minute, not by the week or month!!!!

I was very in favor of the controlled way and quarantine in the beginning.....we are now much further, and to prevent a totally melt down of the already melted Argentina, u need to open up Argentina NOW!!!!

I have a vested interest in lockdown, only because I've seen my courier service take off like nothing before. But travelling around and seeing 90% of businesses closed is quite shocking.

With sensible measures in place, there should be a relaxation for businesses to operate right now. It really has become a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

The locals here are getting totally pissed off with the OTT measures the council have taken. We're being blamed by the authorities for being out in large numbers at certain times on Saturdays and the people are saying WTF do you expect when we're not allowd out all day Sunday you tosspots!!!

UK Man , did the council ever offer an explanation for the all-day lockdown on Sundays?

Only to prevent the spread of the virus by keeping people off the streets. However I suspect it's to stop the young ones from gathering in groups allowing the police to do other things.

As far as I'm concerned not allowing small business and the vast majority of non food shops to open Mon-Sat is the craziest decision they made.

I too was in favor of the lockdown when it started, but only because it was probably the only course of action after the international community fumbled with China through January and February. However, it is now very clear that when countries entered into lockdowns, they did so with very little forethought about how they may get out of it. Looking back, it's hilarious that they convinced the public a 10-day lockdown was what was needed to sort this out. How was it every going to be solved in 10 days.

Worse is, no-one in a position of authority has any idea how to leave this situation.

Argentina has been in meltdown for years Jan....we're used to it. If anything, they'll come out of this in better shape than when they entered. :D

Heard through the grapevine that due to the scarcity of cigarettes in the town a Kiosco who somehow had stock is charging 500 pesos for one packet of 20.

    I suspected this would happen.
