They say toads and snakes here, don't they.
And I bet you didn't know that cats only have seven lives here. They must feel cheated.

But where would you go, serafina? Which country of choice is handling things well?

That's another matter. My plans are nothing but fancy dreams, considering there are no flights, most countries are doing worse than Argentina, virus-wise, and many countries in Europe have closed borders.
I think the US is one of the last countries allowing people in.

... depending, of course, upon which country you hail. Norwegians, for instance, would have no trouble, while Mexicans need not try. And I'm not referring to anything to do with the virus.

Nearly one year on and life where I am is more or less as 'normal' as it was before.
Mind you, I'm very rarely out after 9pm so what goes on after then doesn't affect me.

True, i see less and less masks as time goes by

What percentage of the population has been vaccinated?

Less than 1%

So fewer people are wearing masks ... because??

They just got tired of the lockdown and the fear novelty is starting to wear off

Pandemic fatigue is very alluring. We have friends who’ve been at dinner with people who immediately afterwards tested positive. We are so glad our friends were lucky, and didn’t. But now they think they have immunity.

My thoughts exactly. Doesn't help when you see young police standing on the sreets not always wearing a mask. I personally do't get too worked up about it though.

In Capital I don't see anybody not wearing a mask. People in CABA are definately still sticking to this, also in surrounding Provincia barrios such as San Isidro, Tres de Febrero, Moreno, and others I frequent. It seems in the populated areas people are continuing to follow the wearing mask rules. If UK Man and Mckenna are located in less populated areas, then maybe people are thinking what's the point in those more rural settings.
I spend a decent amount of time out in the nights and it's almost business as usual. In fact, I also see everything mostly back to normal. I am trying to think of something that is really different and cannot think of anything beyond sometimes needing to line up outside stores.
Over the last weeks I have been out on a couple of nights out, a couple of meals, and a few trips to the center for shopping. No different to any other Janauary.

And yet, months ago Worldometer listed Argentina as 28th in the world, in number of cases of COVID. Now it is 12th out of 221 countries, with more cases than even South Africa, with its sweeping variant.

According to the government they are very proud that their health system was never overwhelmed and that they always had more icu beds than they were needed, meanwhile 45000 people died in about 7 or 8 months.
I try to understand how that is not incriminating , saying we have available beds while people were dropping like flies.....
Maybe my understanding is wrong, but in order to say you are doing all you can you would have to have 100% of the beds occupied yet some people died.

Same old populist bullshit propaganda machine at work. Black is white and 2+2=5.

I wish it was that simple, here black is 5 and 2 plus 2 is white

I wouldn't take Worldometer figures too seriously. Even first world countries were producing unreliable data from the start....still are.
