I’ll confess complete ignorance about Dominic Raab. Could you UK forum members tell us about his background? Is he a Boris Johnson mini-me, feeling that he should make decisions as closely as possible to the way Boris would do, or is he likely to leave his own fingerprints during his brief time at the helm?

I think he's become the reluctant interim leader and is only in this position because, as foreign secretary, he's the leading minister after Boris. The title of deputy prime minister disappeared a few years ago and since the UK has no written constitution, it's all down to seniority as far as I can tell.

I don't take what politicians say too seriously. However I suspect the UK ones are a bit better at telling the truth than the ones here.
As for the nippy sweetie....she acts like a school teacher I didn't like.

I agree, trust is a strong word when talking about any politician, but there's enough independent information and journalistic standards in the UK to make telling lies a little harder at least. If they could they would, and certainly restrict information, but I am not as disbelieving of what I am told about the UK than I am here.

Especially now, daniel . In the US, we daily see the virologists on tv, giving facts and warnings, immediately followed by the heads of government saying entirely opposite things, doubtless with an eye to the approaching elections.
I believe experts know that covid 19 will not end this year and probably not even in 2021. The big ? is how long can the world and the human species survive in a lockdown mode. I do not think for long!!! This virus will play itself out oneway or another, for the good or the bad.
