True. I’m just surprised, upon learning their Dear Leader had secretly been vaccinated before leaving the presidency, that they are still willing to gamble with their lives.
But if that’s their choice....

The Times, 28 April 2021:
“More than 38 million people in England live in areas that are recording virtually no new cases of Covid-19. “
But
Washington Post, 27 April 2021:
“India reported more than 300,000 new confirmed covid-19 cases for the sixth day in a row Tuesday as the country battles a brutal wave of illnesses that’s overwhelmed its health-care system.”
That is nearly 2 million new cases in six days. Heartbreaking.
“I’m sitting in my apartment waiting to catch the disease. That’s what it feels like right now in New Delhi,” Jeffrey Gettleman, The New York Times’ bureau chief there, writes.

Come on, mate. Politics aside, even a blind man can see that the previous administration's handling of the Covid crisis in the US was a complete shambles.

“South America’s raging outbreak could seed dangerous new variants, worsening the pandemic well beyond the region’s borders.”

From The Times today:
“Holidaying families face paying hundreds of pounds to prove they are safe to fly because of delays in the development of a health certificate for overseas travel, it emerged yesterday. Many Britons are likely to be required to take a costly PCR test despite having been vaccinated. The bill could double the cost of travel to some short-haul destinations.”
And this surprising finding:
“A third of Britons admit they have preferred lockdown to normal life and one in ten want restrictions to last for ever, according to a survey. More than a quarter of adults (28 per cent) say they have enjoyed "having more time to myself", while a third (32 per cent) say lockdowns have given them more time to relax.”

Sweden could have saved nearly 2,000 lives in its first wave had it imposed a timely lockdown, a new study suggests. Nearly 6,000 Swedes died over the first six months of the pandemic while the country largely relied on banning gatherings of more than 50 people.

You need to trade that cowboy hat for a MAGA hat. Might fit better.

I can only assume they're the ones being paid to work from home....lazy bastards!!
I am consulting with three different UK-based companies at the moment.
All three are extremely happy with the level of productivity of all their employees during lockdown.
One CEO has told me they are now considering closing their city-centre office, as they feel home working is the future.

It seems that working from home is the new normal, although all three of us work from home, I'm glad I'm able to get out on the bike for deliveries and collections or I'd go crazy.
Not to mention the overhead of renting an office which in my case was a fait accomplis when they doubled the rent and I moved into the garage

This is another sad state of affairs regarding the pandemic

People are leaving discarded masks everywhere. It really angers me. I know I should keep my cool

I have been working from home for 8 years now, so I was pretty used to being glued to the computer anyway. For my work (or perhaps it is just an unbalanced relationship with my work), I am always checking my emails and this prevents me from actually enjoying some time off.
I envy people who can stick to a routine and make time for themselves.
At least, pre-pandemic I could enjoy attending short courses (especially cooking classes!) or going to the gym (not something I did constantly, but a diversion now and them). Right now I can only walk or go to the bar/eat outside.
With the weather getting colder, I am not enjoying eating outside like I did in the past. It is f*ing cold for me!
We went for a beer at 4 PM, the place was in the shadow, I ordered a gin tonic (with Hendricks gin - I couldn't resist!!! there were 7 kind of gins to choose from) and froze to the point that 90' later I was having a hot shower at home.
Here in Palermo, I see people gathering at the pub/bar for a beer at 5 PM after they are done with their office work, remote or not.

New York Times, May 17, 2021:
As vaccination campaigns continue around the world, the pandemic has become a global tale of haves and have-nots. Many wealthy countries are making significant progress, thanks to the vaccines they’ve obtained. But outbreaks are devastating developing nations where there aren’t enough doses available.
It has become, in other words, a K-shaped pandemic. And the fault lines keep widening as vaccines flow toward rich countries.
Vaccines are not the only defense — governments across Asia and Oceania have kept the virus at bay despite low vaccination rates. Restrictions were also critical in reining in infections. But this year, no factor has had a greater impact on a nation’s path out of the pandemic than the number of vaccines it can buy.

In the US, the state of Alabama is among the states with the smallest percentage of vaccinated adults. Perhaps not so coincidentally, the number of new COVID cases in Alabama rose 128% last week, in a country where most states are seeing weekly declines in new cases.
This week Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed a bill banning vaccine passports.
