Potential big consultancy agreement\.
No known cases of infections on Argentine domestic flights....
How many checks and how many reliable reports do we have on those?
Arghhhhh. That makes the decision more difficult, GlasgowJohn . It doesn’t decrease the risk, but it definitely increases the reward.
I’m not trying to persuade you, as I know it’s a really big decision that only you can make. But I do think I should mention there also are no known infections on US domestic flights, and look at us! Neither country has been stellar in contact tracing. And epidemiologists who warn against flying emphasize that airports themselves pose a risk because there are so many people within indoor limitation.
Some questions that could help you:
Have the filtration systems on Aerolineas been completely overhauled for much more frequent clean air exchange? That would be a big plus. Do they assign seats to leave the middle seat empty, or will you potentially be inhaling what someone half a metre from you is exhaling?
Is your client likely to strictly wear his mask all the time you’re together? If the people the two of you are meeting with don’t wear masks, will you be risking the whole deal anyway if you do wear yours? Will you be eating and drinking together? If so, on the plane? In a restaurant? At a well-spaced outdoor area?
And of course, the big question: how does Mrs GlasgowJohn feel about it?
From today’s Sunday Times:
Belgians will be allowed to invite just four people into their gardens this Christmas – but only one of them will be permitted inside to use the lavatory.
The question, of course, is how that one lucky person is chosen? And the corollary: what do the other 3 do?
Up against the garden wall?
Argentina will suspend direct flights to and from the UK from Tuesday.

Hoping it is contained to England!!!!
That's our plans screwed for the foreseeable future, not to mention that Norwegian will most likely never return to long haul routes.
Bummer!
Hoping it is contained to England!!!!
Canada and the EU have also suspended flights to/from the UK, although the EU gave several days’ notice, during which time many people fled the UK, presumably to go wherever they want in the world, since they will now not be on a nonstop flight from the UK.
The US president, meanwhile, has completely abdicated all governing functions, while he continues to try to overturn the vote of the people through failed legal challenges, pressure and threats to state officials, and now, talk of martial law. He who was so proud of closing the country to flights from China is now MIA when it comes to doing the same with flights from the UK.
Will Canada’s action shame the US into doing the right thing to contain the spread?
I read somewhere that he even considered bring in the military to uphold his version of the election result.
If anything, he's the one who should be dragged away in chains.

Most of Europe has the variant, they just haven't tested for it. Holland had it first I believe. The experts seem to think it'll become the dominant variant globally and will affect children as well. At least the vaccines available also combat it.

It’s true. Newly-pardoned Ex-general Mike Flynn, in this closest circle, has openly encouraged Mad King Ludwig to declare martial law and saying that the should be called in to “re-run the election.”
The Army felt the need to set the record straight by issuing a terse statement today, saying “"There is no role for the U.S. military in determining the outcome of an American election.”
Apologies - this post is just a side trip in answer to Splinter ’s earlier post, not meaning to hijack the thread, which is actually meant to be about coronavirus in other countries -
Back to Coronavirus around the world -
A new highly infectious strain of coronavirus has been found in Britain as ministers announced that six million more people would be moved into the toughest restrictions on Boxing Day. Chaotic scenes continued in Dover yesterday as thousands of hauliers were stranded at the borderdespite the first coronavirus tests being carried out. Meanwhile, Christmas Day could have the highest number of coronavirus patients being treated in English hospitals at any point in the pandemic, official data suggests. |
UK response |
Priti Patel has told senior police to crack down on coronavirus lawbreakers and warned that there is "no room for complacency" in the enforcement of restrictions. The discovery of a mutation of the Covid-19 virus in South Africa earlier this month allowed researchers time to share vital information with Britain. Retailers have warned of shortages of some fresh foods despite Lufthansa flying in 80 tonnes of fruit and vegetables to circumvent the logjam in Kent. The reopening of schools and universities in January was thrown into doubt yesterday after government advisers warned that it could be very difficult to keep control of the virus if it transmits faster among children. Meanwhile, Dames Maggie Smith and Penelope Keith, Joanna Lumley, Tom Hardy and Ncuti Gatwa were among those recruited by the Prince of Wales to film a reading of 'Twas The Night Before Christmas to help actors who have fallen on hard times because of the pandemic. |

Neymar, Brazil's best-known footballer, has been criticised for allegedly throwing a five-day party for hundreds of people at a luxury villa in Rio de Janeiro. Local officials said that the event was not illegal but was "hurting sanitary principles".
The true death toll from coronavirus in Russia is more than three times the Kremlin's figure, a senior government official indicated today.
Poland entered a stricter lockdown today, with hotels and most shops shut for at least three weeks and people entering the country on public transport facing ten days in quarantine.

Neymar , a great footballer but a nasty person. He should be put in jail for organizing that party. Allegedly?....absolutely definitely.
The man was only 41 and the news certainly brings home the severity of Covid. A little known and sobering fact is that in Louisiana alone more than 7000 people have died from Covid related illness.
Louisiana Congressman-elect Luke Letlow dead from COVID-19
Hilarious but true tweet on twitter

And yet, there is a certain cohort who fervently believe the virus is a hoax. In Louisiana, they would have voted for congressman-elect Letlow. I imagine they think he died of something else.
“Spain has said that it will add those who refuse to be vaccinated against coronavirus to an official register, in an apparent warning to antivaxers as the country begins mass inoculations.“

This is worth a read and I'm wondering if the Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine will be coming here? I'd trust that more than the Rusky one that for sure.
