Half way through this new to me Quilmes 'Double Malt' beer. I got this six pack 'on the cheap' due to it being on offer plus another 35% off after the missus paid for the shopping using a certain bank card. It's okay for the price I paid but I would never pay the full asking price...it'd be a rip-off!!
Finally tried this one. Found it on special in Dia.
It was fairly pleasant but not sure if I would repeat the purchase.
A wee while later, I was musing on the terrace and was saying to myself that the can looks funny. I checked and it's a 410ml can whereas most other cans are 473ml
That's quite a difference ....

Yes I've noticed the smaller can size is becoming increasinly popular here....a ruddy con.
The St Wendeler beers....I like the green 'Lager' one the best. They're not great but at least they're all 500ml which gives you a decent swally. Dia regularly have at least one variety on offer so I tend to stick to them. I'm no beer expert so I'm a bit of a stingy. Our local micro brewery ''Rothenburger'' make excellent top notch beers so if I want to splash out I go there. Their Scotch Ale is especially good.

Never seen those ads...
But they surely know I am a lost cause.

Perhaps the algorithm thinks this is a branch of AA.

Been mostly dull and 25c today but it's not stopping me from having a beer.

I like the St. Wendeler, it is economic (I think the cheapest?) and most I have tried are nice. However, it is not a good beer/lager for allowing to sit. I find it loses quality of taste quickly when I swig them down slow. I am not a big fan of the Argentine brands, so it is good to have an affordable alterntive option.

Yes it's not a quality beer but neither are the popular Argentine brands. I like all four St Wendeler varieties and usually just buy whichever one is on offer.

Splinter , careful on the pricing, it's one of the new 410ml cans, compared to the normal 473ml can.
Yes it is a bit dear, but very nice anyway!
Anyone tried Johnnie Walker Blue? I know I haven't and according to this it's 60 years old

Johnnie Walker Blue is a decent dram, although I would never pay the cash for it.
It's also not 60 years old - the age of Scotch whisky is determined by the age of the youngest whisky in the blend - a typical will blend will have anything from 15 and 30 different whiskies in the recipe. A few years back some marketing boys mentioned it had 60-year-old whisky and the story has never gone away.. I personally doubt it as one drop will not change the taste profile.
JW Blue has a taste profile of between 25 and 30 years old - it may have a drop or two of older whiskies but not a lot.
For Johnnie Walker lovers, here is my cheat sheet on what I think is in the none age declared blends.
Red Label, Non-Age Stated , but probably 5-6 y0, 40% ABV
Black Label, 12 Years old, 40% ABV
Double Black, Non-Age Stated, probably 9 -10 yo 40% ABV
Island Green, Non-Age Stated, hard to call as some of the older peated whiskies make it seem older 43% ABV - Blended Malt
Green Label, 15 Years Old, 43% ABV - Blended Malt
Gold Label Reserve, Non Age Stated, 40% ABV
Johnnie Walker Aged 18 Years, 18 years old, 40% ABV
Blue Label, Non Age Stated, 40% / 43 / 46 ABV
Blue Label Ghost and Rare, Non Age Stated, 46% ABV
There is The Explorer’s Club range for duty free and travel retail and a Blenders' Batch series of experimental casks.

I'm not really a Scotch drinker, but I will imbibe when I can get my hands on it. More of a Jameson or Bushmills drinker.
Maybe the scene with John Spencer in The West Wing was exaggerated for dramatic effect?

Wow, GlasgowJohn - - what an education you just gave us! I’m not a scotch drinker, but am going to send your Johnny Walker primer to friends who drink it. Thanks!

I see Buckfast is still popular in Glasgow. The picture was taken at Ibrox yesterday after the Rangers-Celtic game...looks like the Directors box as well.
I've never ever tasted the 'Buckie' how about you GlasgowJohn?

Saw Guinness for the first time in years for sale today. It was in La Anonima but decided to pass as it was 341 pesos a can. I now see they have it on offer online for 221 pesos. I would have snapped it up at that price!!
