Strange thing is I rarely drank when I lived in the UK. It's only since coming to live here I started. I now drink every day, mostly wine with lunch or dinner and a dram before going to bed. I don't go OTT as I know it would make me ill.

Stress , or living in Argentina , drives many people to drink.

A plenty-good reason for drinking wine with lunch is that it is so good in Argentina! Makes me sad to see people drinking Coke when they could be enjoying Malbec.

Plus the TORO vino tinto I drink is cheaper than Coke. ^^

I'm certainly no saint, but I've gone the opposite way. I used to enjoy a pint every day in the UK, perhaps because it's more of a drinking culture, which Argentina isn't, by a long shot.

I think most agree drinking is not really good for u n ur body......but it's really hard to stop......I don't drink so much like UK Man though..... hahaha....

I think I drink normally say, a beer some wine and maybe, once or twice a week whisky. Saturday Sunday with neighbours maybe a bit more.

I have the vacuum pump for wines....with that u can open good expensive wines and keep for a few days without losing any of the quality.

Several times in my life I have taken a total break from alcohol......after just a week u feel a huge difference in ur body.....U just feel better.....and I don't even feel like drinking then......

Last time I semi-stopped was when I worked with my friend Stuart in the restaurant......great beer on tap, great food.....8 hours eating and drinking in between work.....you just run body down......so took a break and only allowed myself one day, Sunday for biergarten......

Btw if u drink toro redwine and Quilmes beer, u r in the wrong country..... hahaha

I gave it break for nine months about ten years ago, because I needed a break from it. Then I went to once a week and it's the perfect balance for me.

On the other hand, I sleep better after a couple of drinks.

That suggests to me you were overindulging....so no wonder you felt better. ^^

Monkey Shoulder is a decent whisky , made by the nice people from Wm Grant.

You can actually get it here - but not in the nasty big supermarkets chains

But there are better ones at the same price level..

Must admit I don't like silly names like that so would never buy it. If I got it for free I wouldn't complain right enough. Let us know how it tastes Jan.

My friend, not a whiskey drinker brought it..... he had no idea.....

I remember I read years back that it's one of the best low priced whiskey u can get.... as u say, decent, nothing more......

But the Stiebel Eltron........nooooo where to b found..... hahaha........

So the whiskey was not the most valuable.....

If it helps the industry then that's all that matters. Watched a documentary about whisky drinking in Japan and China where the young rich kids are going crazy for it.

UK Man , do you remember what kind of whiskey the young Chinese and Japanese kids like? Scotch? Rye? Bourbon? Or Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Sippin’ Whiskey?

I agree, when I was a teen back in the UK I used to get sloshed regularly. It's still the same there too. Here it's much less, perhaps because they don't need the social lubricant. Either way, even teens here seem largely uninteresed in drinking and don't care at all about being drunk.

I have a few sessions here with family members and friends. Back in the UK I was an ok drinker, but here I drink everyone under the table jaja.

I know what you mean, Semigoodlooking . It still surprises me that In a country with such good wine, Coca-cola is the preferred beverage of so many people.

When we have parties, it is always the case that more Coca-cola is consumed than wine. That would NEVER happen to us in the US.

Most of what they showed them drinking was Scotch, malts especially. Although that was expected as it was a programme about the Scottish whisky industry.

To be honest I got the impression those drinking didn't really have much of a clue about whisky...it was all about fashion and being part of the 'in-crowd'.

They do love their coke here. Even that returnable stuff, which is just dirty water and not Coke.
