It's 80 years since the allies and Soviet troops liberated the Nazi concentration camps. Even today it's hard to fathom.

Unspeakable. When I was growing up and learning about the rise of Hitler, the concentration camps, and WWII, I could not understand or accept why/that the German people would choose him as their leader, and would allow him to get away with such crimes, virtually unchallenged.

Now I am seeing the parallels between 1930’s Germany and the level of cruelty and barbarity in the USA with the new autocratic regime, and I ask myself “WHAT CAN WE DO??”

Meanwhile, not content with the hold he has on the US administration, President Musk has now weighed in on Germany’s election, endorsing the far right party.

Did we learn anything from the holocaust and the dangers of an authoritarian regime? In the ensuing years, have we completely forgotten?

The salute Elon Musk did at the Trump inguration is illegal act in Germany which is not protected by "free speech". Ideally that government, and the EU, will take some action to not allow him to continue his attempts to use his money and the X platform to meddle in anything there.

A worthy thought, aficionado , but the message the entire world is receiving now is the Golden Rule, as interpreted to mean He Who Has the Gold Makes the Rules.
