Is it a block of flats they're building?
I take it no one's living there while the work is being carried out?
This is from an earlier post as to what it's supposed to end up looking like.

Who are the owners?
Who are the owners?
The actual neighbours, but they moved out last year to live with her parents because of the work.
Unfortunately their circumstances have changed since then following the birth of their baby who has complications, shall we say.
I see.
There's been a hell of a lot of building work going on in my town over the last few years. I'd love to know where some of those having it done are getting the money from. All seems a bit odd to me.

Our neighbours took out a massive loan at a fixed interest rate.
We know a few people who seem to have been able to get big loans. Not judging them but let's just say they're supporters of a certain political party.
It's now taking on a very unusual shape.
How's the noise been? That's what would trouble me the most.

Not too bad and we are maintaining a good relationship with the architect and builders who have promised to repaint our terrace and outside walls because of the mess they've made, which has been unavoidable really.
The other neighbour has been denouncing them constantly and when the council inspector went to see him he found that the neighbour himself has building work that wasn't approved, which he now has to remove.
Karma, defined.
Yes, looks dodgy....either cutting costs or corners. I regularly see strange building techniques used here and I'm no expert. They're good at hiding them though.
I doubt that window is supporting anything, just filling a hole. If the wall is constructed
right, there will be a header above the window, inside the finished wall, supporting
the load above. A king stud will run from top plate to bottom plate, a window stud is
nailed to the king stud with the window header placed on top. All that other stuff is mostly
just for looks.

When you say a header do you mean a lintel?
I had to search for studs, as it were.
I watched them build the walls and no headers, studs or lintels were used.

Yes!!! If constructed with cement blocks, it would be called a lintel, with wood construction it is called a header. Both serve the same purpose of transmitting load to the foundation. There may be windows, that are capable of withstanding the load above, I do not know of any, if that windows does not have some kind of
load bearing member, then over time the wall will sag. Same things applies for door framing.

They are just plain aluminium windows as far as I can see.
"We're just making some changes to the roof," they said, 18 months ago.
Nightmare.
Doesn’t look one bit health-and-safety compliant.
Argentine health and safety-conscious scaffolding at work on our side of the site.
Looks like some of my scaffold work!!!!!!!
