Well, I’d definitely have the phone booth one, but your kitchen is ever so much more tasteful than mine would be.

Tomorrow I'm collecting some nice Eucalyptus wood for a living room table that I've been planning to build for quite some time. I also took advantage of the last couple of days of 12 interest free payments as the wood wasn't cheap.
Also, I found an excellent wood supplier in Nuñez who will cut to measure.
Photos of finished product to follow.

The table will be gorgeous!
Sorry, I was momentarily distracted from your photos by the ad that appeared on top of the last photo:

More vertical blinds work (persianas) which seem to break down whether new or old. The lad had new ones fitted in his flat and the straps that support the blinds came away from the very thin piece of material to which they were attached. Hardly surprising really.
I made new holes either end with more meat to hold onto, reset the straps position on the wooden roller and refitted them. A tricky job but interesting too because the mechanism is so simple.

Good for you! More “repair, not replace” work.

We've had this vacuum cleaner for a few years and it was given to us by a friend who nearly threw it away. The on/off switch wouldn't work properly after a while and neither did the cable retract mechanism.
Both fixed now.
The tubing and plastic parts that fit into the hoover are broken and you can't get the parts any more (except the tubing), so duct tape to the rescue.
It's a perfectly good hoover and when I buy the paper bags, I just cut the cardboard collar to fit. Job done. New ones are bout $25,000.

If we are able to stay in our old apartment when we return to BsAs, do I ever have a vacuum cleaner repair job for you!

Went to Sodimac today which is always a pleasant experience, browsing the tools and other bits and pieces. Anyway, they now have a peculiar self-checkout where you scan your purchases and it spits out a ticket which you then take to a nearby cashier. She then does exactly the same which kind of defeats the object completely.
I use the automated checkout in Disco and it faster than queuing up and works very well because you just swipe you card and that's it. But of course, this being Argentina, a security operative has to check your goods against the receipt, just in case you may have nicked something.

Can't say I'm surprised.
When using the staffed checkouts in supermarkets it's always worth inspecting your receipt before you leave. We got charged for six milks last week when we only bought five. They're always very good at apologising and refunding it has to be said. It's surprising how often it happens though.

You get an apology when they overcharge? Can’t say that’s ever happened to me.

This is usually in La Anonima. We are well known to them right enough.

Ah. And we are anonymous in La Anonima (and in the rest, which just don’t scan as well -)
