When I hear people in Argentina lovingly call friends "gordo" or "gordito," I realize that this term of endearment could, in the US, land the speaker either in divorce court or in the emergency room with multiple complex fractures.
This made me start thinking about other expressions that are fine in one language and not at all fine in another. Thoughts?
