Splinter, please elaborate on other areas in which you found Uruguay to be more expensive than Argentina? Food, Wine, Restaurants, Petrol, and (car) Tolls, for instance? I was pleasantly surprised that your hotel in Colonia cost only $69; is there any hotel in BsAs that would charge that little these days? 15 years ago, yes, but I don't think so now.
We haven't been to either PDE or Colonia in at least 10 years. At that time, we were surprised at how much more absolutely everything was, in some cases double the price for the same thing or similar things in Argentina. I'd like to know more before venturing back without advance warning.
