Besides the hand lotion, papel hygienico and soup can 'desk organizers,' the item that most intrigues me is what might be baby-birthing forceps in that left soup can.
Although I can't fathom the uses of the other tchotchkes, I can see that the lotion has been used to lubricate the keypad. Makes the computer run faster, I believe.

That's the problem with printers....it's the ink that in the long run that cost more
They look very tempting with the low prices of the actual printer, mine cost around £100, but I'm sure I've paid well over that in buying ink. Mine has two black ink slots, when either one runs out, the printer decides not to work

I do print a lot as I proofread in print. I have a basic b/w brother printer that works on WiFi and I chose it specifically because it is a brand that accepts non-branded toner cartridge. I refill my cartridge in a shop in Villa Crespo.
This is the cheapest solution available in Argentina.
My model is HL1212w. It is now sold for close to 190 usd in Argentina. I paid half of that about eight years ago. (Not a great time to shop in Argentina, nowadays).
When we arrived here, I had brought my Samsung laser color printer and I had to had it hacked (chipped) so that it would accept refilled cartridges. It wasn’t cheap to buy toner in Italy, but here in Argentina it was utterly expensive.
I eventually sold it in Argentina because I wasn’t using it too much at the time and it wasn’t worth the spending.

I print only when editing or proofreading, because I have to mark things up in order to do the job right. It does become expensive on larger jobs, but I’m just not convinced I’ve done my best without paper confirmation.

Same here! For as much as I hate to waste paper, I find it a necessary step if you write for a living.

Proofreading is much easier when you have a piece of paper in front of you.
I find it imposible to do on the screen and even with the help of the spell corrector I miss things.
