I'm asking for a friend.
We sometimes use one on Scalabrini Ortiz, which I think is between Charcas and Guemes on the side of the street towards Belgrano rather than towards microcentro (West?). It’s close to a small, very clean looking butcher shop, and has the usual small “we buy gold” sign in the largely empty window.
I also know that in Palermo, but we recently found another place near a Green line subway stop in Belgrano that offers better rates. In our experience, 1.5 pesos more per USD.
I am in that area every week and this was a recent find.
Tourists now have many options as exchange places have popped up in every neighborhoods. I believe the place Rice mention is the only cueva in Palermo, hence the lack of competitiveness of their rates.
I am sure that Rice, as a tourist, can find many more options in Palermo, potentially offering slightly better exchange rates.
For example, if you don’t mind walking, there is a branch of Banco Piano at the beginning of Scalabrini Ortíz (in Villa Crespo). They publish their exchange rate online:

Some are suggesting that if when FF team win on Sunday, the dollar will creep up to AR$100 by inauguration day on 10th December. And it may not end there, by settling to AR$140 later on.
If that is the case, buy dollars now.

No wonder the country's in such a ruddy mess. Here we go again.....one step forward five back.
I’d definitely like to try your place, serafina . And @JAN , if you have suggestions, we’d like to hear them!
I read that the Blue is back, but am not hearing much about it. Our best exchange has been at a neighborhood chino, last week, for 60.
I always have my real estate guy change them......he has some contact that does it!
Obviously they are always in need of "real" money!
The blue has not yet sky rocketed, but the Contado con liqui suggest that it should be much higher, around 74 now!!!!!
The blue is kept low..... artificially.

Have to change some cash , but I will be waiting for Monday....

That's a sound strategy.
ARGHHHHH. We just found the $300 US that we had exchanged for pesos last earlier, when the dollar finally hit 60 and we thought we might not see that rate again. Both forgot that we'd done it, and couldn't figure out why we were down by $300. Then remembered.
dumb, dumb, dumb!
We were coming home at 2 AM this morning and a new and shiny exchange place exactly on Plaza Italia-Santa Fe was showing:
Compra 72.50
Venta 81.00
For the dollar. Of course at 2 AM it was closed and I am not sure if this was a value shown after they closed or if they were offering that rate also during working hours.
It had a big orange sign that read Cambio or Exchange. Never seen it before

Good marketing device, anyway - sets in people’s minds the thought that this place gives better rates than anyone else - whether actual or not -
or scare mongering hahaha....
Imagine the casa de cambio putting up the quotes say 100-120, (when they are closed).....people would scare their pants and rethink their vote maybe.......
I've seen huge convoys arriving here in tigre , around 500 Humvees coming from Carmelo......also tanks and missiles.....
I have heard foreign exchange reserves are running ''very very low''.
So the country's back to square one again.

After the PASO and a 30% pesos drop, they were partying.
I am not sure that's a factor to K's supporters, you know?
500 zombies?
