I will be checking this out, especially the latter stages where the business really happens. It's always hard to look past New Zealand, but England typically turn up for world cups so they will be in the mix too, South Africa the same. I always view South Africa as a good match for New Zealand if they can match their physicality.

Australia is such an uneven bag, capable of winning big against the All Blacks in August and then losing 36-0 in the reverse test a week later.

Wales and Ireland have had excellent years recently, but I remain undersold on the idea that either is ready to step up and win a World Cup.

Wales have a nasty habit of falling down, but then coming back. They can be very frustrating, but I have high hopes!

New Zealand? We have seen chinks in their armour recently, so at least that opens up the field.

We're still in the pool stage by the way.

Wales beat Australia in a thrilling match that was worth dragging ourselves out of bed at 0415 for, believe me.

    Proud to be Welsh!

Argentina performed very poorly against England this morning, losing 39-10.

They weren't helped by one of their forwards being sent off after a dangerous tackle.

This puts England into the quarter finals.

Japan are through to the quarter finals, following a tremendous game against Scotland when they played some of the most stylish and energetic rugby I've ever seen. A match to be remembered and Scotland didn't know what had hit them, Actually the scoreline of 28-21 didn't really reflect Japan's dominance over the Scots.

Japan meet S Africa next weekend.

A shadow Wales team beat Uruguay, 35-13 in a scrappy game with some nice tries, but a not very memorable performance.

Wales be take on France next Saturday.

Not surprised by the result. Scotland are going through a sticky patch and definitely not up to the standard needed in a World Cup.

I haven't watched Scotland play a rugby game for years now. I used to watch every game they played as well.....the fitba team are even worse. :D

Some matches were cancelled due to the typhoon that swept through Japan, so the next games (knockout stages) will be played this weekend.

And yes, I will be getting up early for a 0415 kick off :rimg:

And I’d rather watch a presidential debate than watch a rugby match, even one that doesn’t start before sunrise.

One benefit of supporting Scotland I suppose. You rarely get motivated enough to watch them at a sensible hour of the day never mind 4.15am.

Tyson...a blast from the past. Was never too keen on boxing. Too many one sided fights back in those days.
